Rajbari, formerly known as Goalando, has always been a significant hub in the railway network of Bengal. During the British Raj, the Eastern Bengal Railway extended its line to Goalando Ghat in 1871.
For decades, the majestic steamers connected with trains here, ferrying passengers to Dhaka and beyond. The whistle of the steam engines and the hustle of the ghat created a unique cultural tapestery that defines Rajbari even today.
